Graduate student position, Fouad laboratory, University of Alberta
We are looking for motivated graduate students who work well in a team. Students with a Masters/Diploma in Neuroscience or related disciplines, and experience in immunohistochemistry, electrophysiology or behavioral analysis will be preferred.
Our research is focused on repairing the injured spinal cord. For this we focus on two strategies: 1) promoting regeneration of lesioned axons by the application of combined treatments, and 2) promoting rewiring and adaptations of spared neuronal circuitries (generally described as plasticity). Work in my group entails a huge array of techniques including behavioral methods, histology, immuno -histochemistry and biochemical approaches. We are located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and are members of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Centre for Neuroscience at the University of Alberta.
If you are interested find more information on our webpage (http://www.rehabresearch.ualberta.ca/karimfouad/) and ensure that you fulfill the entry requirements of the Centre for Neuroscience (http://www.neuroscience.ualberta.ca/Home/index.cfm).

M.Sc. or Ph.D. position in genetics of memory formation, University of Alberta
Dr. François Bolduc is seeking to support a student interested in graduate studies (MSc or PhD) on the genetic basis of learning and memory. The Bolduc lab uses a Drosophila model to understand the genes important for memory formation. We focus our research on genes such as Fragile X that are also important in human intellectual development. In addition to gaining basic understanding of memory, our goal is to develop genetic and pharmacologic treatments able to help the patients with these diseases. Our specialized expertise allows my laboratory to have extensive collaborations with several others across the world and will allow the student to establish a vast scientific network. Moreover, the student will be able to enjoy various outdoor activities in Edmonton and the Rockies.
Contact François Bolduc if you want to join our team: fbolduc@ualberta.ca
